GenCen is pleased to be a drop-off location for the statewide Michigan Health & Hygiene Donation Drive for the Homeless, occurring Monday, April 24th through Friday, May 5th.

Health & Hygiene Donation Drive for the Homeless at GenCenDonations will be accepted during our office hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (with the possibility that we will be closed from 12-1pm for lunch). MSU's Sexual Assault Program (Room 14 Student Services Building) is also participating as a drop-off location. We've created a Facebook event to assist with social-media sharing of this campaign.

What is the purpose of this Donation Drive?

Of the tens of thousands of homeless in Michigan, half are families, most of whom are young mothers with young children. To help these and at-risk individuals and families in our state, this hygiene product donation drive will collect and distribute general hygiene, menstrual hygiene, and sexual health items to individuals or agencies who need them.

In addition to supporting these individuals, this drive will combat the stigma associated with menstruation through period-friendly marketing campaigns and information offered regarding menstrual and sexual health.

Accepted Items GraphicWhat items will be accepted?

As we are specifically a part of the Menstruation Hygiene campaign, we are hoping for donations of menstrual hygiene/sexual health products such as tampons, pads, menstrual cups, reusable cloths, pantiliners, and more. We are also accepting General Hygiene products such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, sunscreen, bandaids and other injury-care items, and incontinence products.
