On a personal level I feel this experience helped me grow in many ways. It pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to try many new things that I will forever remember. It also allowed me to meet so many new people who share similar interests with me.
My time abroad also improved my ability to communicate in non-English speaking environments. It pushed me to be more observant and learn some of the native language so I could communicate. During this time, I took an Italian culture and language class where I learned lots of basic phrases and gestures to communicate. In addition to this, I learned about cultural norms, traditions, and food. This allowed me to feel very comfortable when exploring the new neighborhoods.
I also met many new people at my university and many local
Rome will forever hold a special place in my heart, and I would encourage everyone to study abroad if they are given the opportunity.
